Making your own bow can be one of the most rewarding projects, something you have made with your own hands from start to finish! Our company offers two types of wood to choose for your bow.
Hickory is one of the best choices of wood for the beginner to work with. It is a tough durable wood that is very forgivable to mistakes, a plus for first time bowyers.
Ipe creates a wonderful bow. Beautifully contrasting against a hickory backing, these bows deliver an awesome zip!
Quality
We only use high quality hand-selected Hickory and Ipe for all of our staves. Not every piece of wood can yield a quality bow. We provide you with the same quality wood we use for our own bows.
Do I need a backing?
Hickory has a unique inter-locking grain that requires no backing, but it can be backed to add strength to your bow. Ipe will need a backing. Backed staves are not glued. |
